I am looking to change my 2000 silverado from a 4.8 to a 5.3. What is the latest year motor i can go before i would have to change my transmission?

You may as well go with a 6.0 if your going to do a swap, to date the engine and trans platforms are the same. Which trans do you have?

how can i tell if its a 4L60 or a 4L65? i dont think it would be anything bigger than that
