Hood removal

Asked by Rado_1500 Oct 10, 2011 at 07:23 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am about to replace the passenger side front fender on 1997 Silverado. Was
wondering if I can get by by just  disconnecting the hood at hinge on this side. Or
do I have to remove the hood completely?  If I have to remove completely, can I get
step by step instructions on how to remove it?  Worried about spring loaded hinges
and hurting myself.
Thanks

You shouldn't have to remove the hood, just make sure you check the gap between the fender and the hood to match the drivers side gap.

Thanks Jesse. Did it and no injuries. Now that I have the fender swapped out, I notice that the hood on that side sits higher in the back. How do I lower it? Thanks.
