2004 Monte Carlo Shuts Off When AC Engaged

Asked by db0127 May 08, 2018 at 08:27 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Monte Carlo LS that I had sitting for the past 6 months. I
disconnected the battery during this time. Now that we're ready to sell, the car
seems to run fine however when the air conditioning is engaged there is a
funny noise coming from under the hood and the motor dies. There wasn't
anything wrong with the AC when it was put into storage 6 months ago.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

The clutch or the a/c compressor is locking up causing the engine to stall.from sitting the oil settled in the bottom of the compressor not lubricating system.
