Stuck in 4low

I have a 1994 4x4 ranger 4.0 with the vacume locks
and ive never had a problem coming out of 4x4 but
i had to pull my dad f450 out of big sand hole and i
it sounds like a broke the vacume hubs and when i
tried taking it out it would the light just stayed on i
have the buttons for 4x4 and i know the rules to get
out put it nuetral or roll in revrse could the hub be
shatters ans jam it all up

    I bought a shift repair kit, to remove slop in the shifting. The old rings were trashed! Removal was easy, installation easy but it is stuck in a forward gear and will not shift anywhere.
