Weird problem with lights

Asked by Sketch006 Nov 11, 2017 at 07:17 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Express Cargo 2500 Extended RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have this weird problem with my lights. When in park, all my lights work
normally. As soon as I shift into anything else, my front signals, and interior
lights, light up and stay lit. Then if I keep my headlights off, my brake lights
and turning signals work, although very  dim in rear, and blinking fast. If I turn
on my headlights, then my rear lights don't work, only front will blink.

Checked all fuses, can't figure out what's wrong, any suggestions?

Ive encountered similar lunacy but on much older vehicles with high miles. Several different cures worked. Check wires in the Column and your Multi purpose switch(if it controls lights) Check any and all relays related to lights.Check for frayed wires. Is anything wet? Do you ever have any problem with gauges, radio, fan(heat A/C)?If so---- Does your van have a BCM?(Body control module)
