why does the heater/defrost and a/c in the summer quit working occasionally?

Asked by speedracer2076 Jan 17, 2015 at 08:36 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado LT Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the summer when my a/c is on and winter when my heater/defroster is on, the system
will just quit working. No response to any settings or switches, and then when it feels
good and ready, comes back on for no set length of time.

There is a faulty plug under the glove box. Look under ac harness for colorado on ebay. Make sure to get the complete one. They try to sell a male and female end separately and you don't want that. It's an easy fix and I think the directions are on a video where you buy the harness. This is a common problem on Colorados. Mine had it and I took it to a shop where he rigged the plug with a paper clip. It's still on and off. Need to get that harness myself. Is under 20 bucks I think.
