Heat Wont BLow Hot Air After Installation Of New Alternator

I have a 2007 Camry xle v6 and the other day the alternator went out on me so i replaced it. After replacing the new alternator & putting everything back together, i go to start the car. Car starts just fine. i did notice the temp gauge went up immediately but not to high just over the halfway mark, (nothing to worry about). With that said, i went to test the heat and turn it on after about 7 mins of my car idling, now it came on BUT BLEW COLD AIR. So i decided to drive the car which i did and the temperature gauge never read in the dangerous zone/mark & by this time for sure the car should have been blowing heat. So after about another 5 mins of driving the car finally put out hot air. As i noticed the temp gauge would fluctuate slightly up and then slightly back down. Anyone know what i did to cause this problem? I'm guessing i would need to maybe bleed the system bcuz there is an air bubble in it maybe?

If we assume you DID NOT have any of these heater problems...Gauge problems BEFORE the Alt. replacement...one might conclude...that Alt replacement is NG. However IF you disconnected the battery terminal...or....did not DC the Battery Terminals to facilitate the replacement...but...shorted that fat Alt. wire to ground/sparks....well..we now have other causes for your symptoms on this vehicle. Any warning lights ON or Flashing when the engine runs?
