battery and alternator wiring problem

Sure it is hooked up correctly? Check wiring diagram to confirm.

If this problem DID NOT occur before the New Alternator installation....then one must assume a bad alt./installation. That wire may be a fusible link.....which is supposes to melt when too much current is flowing. A wiring diagram suggested above sounds like a good idea. Also ...one should check the CURRENT(Amps) flowing through that wire when it is getting Hot. What Engine is in this vehicle?

Thank you, the wire needs replaced and worry that the whole wiring harness may need to be replaced.hope not. But it looks like the alt is the problem.

OK...I'm inclined to agree. Suggest you test the replacement Alt. with a Digital Volt Meter and Clamp On Amp Probe to verify proper operation. Get back to us with result.

Did they replace the wire with too thin a gauge of wire? That will cause a melt issue.

The wire was replacement for that model ,replaced alt and not keeping charged, then wired direct alt to battery with the wire, still not keeping charged.

Sounds like you need someone who knows Auto Electric and the use of a Digital Volt Ohm meter to figure this one out. Apparently...Just replacing parts is not working. How did you come to the conclusion...."not keeping charged"?
