i hear a loud rattling noise in the engine area of my car, what could be the problem, any helper?

i use a toyota camry 2006 model , i stopped using the car for three days because of
battery problem  where everything was ok. three days after the i moved the car the engine
sound has not been the same.. its now noisy with a rattling cracking sound and the
general performance of the car has reduced abruptly... i want to know what the problem
could be and best way to solve it ...any help very will be very much appreciated..

tom the serpentine belt was removed and when i started the engine the noise was still there..the noise is coming from within the engine itself? i read about it and the information i gathered all seem to link to the timing chain...my worry is that.. is it ok to replace just the timing chain ?
