Passenger door won't open

Asked by Mahi Nov 03, 2007 at 07:46 PM about the 1977 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Still working on the 1977 I recently bought.  The passenger door was working fine but now it won't open.  Feels like it is locked.  Can not take the door panel off because there is a screw and clip behind the door jamb. The car has power windows and the passenger window will go all the way down.  Any thoughts what would have caused this?  Thanks agin, Mahi

P.S.  Wade.... the floor has not got damp any more.  Removed twenty years of pine straw from the cowl / windshield wiper area... and also stuff lodged in the t-top channels.  Appreciate the tip.

Sounds like perhaps the regulator came loose or something disconnected the latch mechanism. You could try fishing down in with a slim jim/locksmith tool and pulling the latch up to manually unlatch it.

Thank you. I took the door panel off the driver's side; that will help me visualize what I do with the slim jim. Mahi
