Ford ranger

Asked by John Jan 30, 2017 at 04:47 PM about the 1995 Ford Ranger XL Standard Cab LB

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1995 ford ranger with a 2.3 4 cylinder
engine and auto transmission, 2wd. I would like to
convert it to 4wd and put a 5 speed tranny in it. Is
this possible and what all parts do I need to do it.

Yes it is possible but you would be better off to buy a 4x4 and save your self a ton of work, headaches and money. If you are determined to do it I would look for a donor truck that is in good shape. Swapping your body onto a 4x4 chassis would be the smart thing to do.

I don't think Ford made a 4 cylinder 4x4 that year. They were either 3.0 liter or 4.0 liter V6's, the 4 banger would be pretty weak for off roading.
