harnesses and airbags

Asked by jamestynan Sep 19, 2012 at 03:33 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe RWD

Question type: Car Customization

so schroth harnesses are street legal where i live, and if i had them in a car that did not have airbags,
would that somewhat make it just as safe as if it had airbags because the harnesses stop you faster
than a regular seat belt and prevents submarining

The harnesses will not prevent your head from whipping forward. Everyone has their own opinion on airbags. The harneses are definitely safer than the original seat belt but not "safer" than an airbag. Both items will have both the highs and lows
