Transmission starts off in 2nd gear when in drive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 I
just had the transmission rebuilt and put it
in myself it's full of fluid but when I put in it
drive it's sluggish so I found out its starting
out in 2nd gear. When I put it down to 1 on
the selector it acts fine takes off without
any sluggishness I even started out in 2 on
the selector and put it back in drive at
about 5 miles an hour to see if it would
change down to 1st by itself but it didn't
I'm completely out of ideas and out of
aspirins for the headaches this truck is
giving me I would appreciate any help

Are you sure the solenoids in the transmission are getting power? Those are what direct fluid pressure through the valve body to the different gears.
