Fuel pump problems

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1936 chevy with a 1977 chevy 350 in it. I was
coming home and at the driveway it quit running and would
not start again . It sat for a 2 hours and then started. When
it guit the fuel filter was empty. When it started we had
replaced the mechanical pump and the filter was full. I
started to drive it and went about 500 yards before it guit.
Fuel filer was empty. It has a new line from the pump to
tank. Do not know what is in tank. Any ideas would be

Agree with the vapor lock. Are you running an exhaust too close to the fuel line?
