what power can a c25xe lump take till the ipistons rods need replacing?

You're not telling us what mods you've done to the motor. In terms of boost on stock Opel/Vauxhall rods 0.7 bar is about the safest you can go. The guys fit BMW robs to those motors and turbo the shit out of them .... or rather the c20xe found in the 20cd16v
