Buyer financing, Credit Union request Picture of Title

Asked by Guru95T2BC Apr 01, 2024 at 12:51 PM

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I am selling my vehicle and have reached an
agreement with a potential buyer who needs to
finance the purchase. His credit union has contacted
me and says they need front/back copies of my
driver's license and car title in order to approve the
loan. I did a Google search, and the credit union it
look like a legitimate institution. Does this request
raise any red flags for you or is it standard practice? I
have never had to do this in my years of
buying/selling personal vehicles, and I am a little
hesitant to email someone copies of my DL and car
title. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. Thanks.
