Define better. For fuel economy and off the line performance an automatic will be better. Automatics have come a long way. Get the manual if you like rowing gears and getting that driving experience. if you do a lot of inner city driving and stop and go, an auto is the way to go.

Ten years ago I would have had to say go standard transmission, but with the way automatics have been changing these days I would have to say now that I would go with an automatic and if it comes with paddle shifters all the better.
