1977 ford f100

If my 1977 Ford F-100 tries to catch gas but
won’t what is the possible problem my father
said he already put a new fuel pump on there
it has gas in it it happened when I was
backing back up a hill ... any possible
answers ??

Simple fuel system, not much can happen except the fuel tank switching valve if it has it. However with this ethanol fuel in older rigs it has been known to deteriorate fuel hoses from the inside, they should be replaced with the new multi-fuel hoses and make sure you replace them all. Another thing to check is the pickup tube inside the fuel tank, these are known to get rust holes in them over time so they start sucking more air than fuel as the fuel level drop in the tanks. HTH
