Engine light is on

I took off my battery terminals and clean them up to charge my battery and now my check engine light is on. Do I need to drive the vehicle a certain amount of miles for it to reset or what needs to happen
In order to know what the check engine light is telling you, you would need to stop at an auto parts store to have the vehicle scanned for the trouble codes. The light may go off on its own but if not you need to know what the trouble code is in-order to know what to do to fix it. More than likely it is an easy fix. If the auto parts store can't tell you what the code means, you can look it up on line or post back here for further assistance.
Driving the car will reset the light as long as nothing is wrong. You can take it to your local parts store and they can usually check the code/turn it off. If it comes back on consult a mechanic
