I replaced the brake light switch but my ml430 will go to drive but it wont change out why is that?

I had turned off my ml430 and when I cranked it back up it would not shift to drive. I replaced the brake light switch and now it will go to drive but will not show what gear it is in and when I put it in drive it will not change out or will not display what gear it is in could some one tell me why this is happening?

check your motor mounts by placing a floorjack with woodblock under the oil pan...rubber will go to hell and should be obvious~ https://www.google.com/#q=ml430+motor+mount
