i have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi when it down shifts after i get on it it slams into gear really hard any ideas on this????

hi its possible the the filter which is also the pickup for the filter has split apart at the seam ....// it is metal on the bottom and plastic on the top and the plastic splits open ...///what then happens when you get on it hard the fluid level goes below this split and then it pulls air instead of fluid from the the bottom of the pan ....// this causes an air pocket in the fluid causing a delay in the clutches to be applied ...//also if your fluid level is low this will not help it either ...if you decide to drop the pan and inspect the filters(your trany has two filters) make sure you look at the plate that holds the accumulators in place the screws tend to come loose and also make a pressure leak as well...// see the pic of the plate
