1992 Chevy Silverado 5.7L won't shift out of Park

This may sound strange but. Do the brake lights work? Try this disconnect battery try to shift into neutral start engine in neutral until repaired. There is a solenoid on the steering column that locks the shifter but I've never seen one go bad. If brake lights work take lower trim panel from dash check shifter solenoid for damage I hope this helps you
