Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Alright here"s the deal. we got a camaro that didnt run when we bought it. i started by replacing the battery to see if it was just a battery problem or something deeper. after replacing the battery the engine started to turn over but never made it all the way. so i bought a spray called instant start. the can says to spray into the carburetor while you start the car. by doing this the engine turned over but only ran for a second. the engine would only run while spraying this substance into the carburetor. What is wrong? a friend said the fuel pump may be out and the carburetor isnt getting fuel. Any tips or info would be great.

Not getting fuel... I would check the fuse first.. Check and make sure the leads on the pump are getting power. If all good, it is safe to assume the pump is bad... Make sure to change the fuel filter too...

first of all it is probably a mechanical fuel pump which is mounted on the right front of the engine at the bottom and those do go bad. also there is only one fuel filter on that and it is in front of the carb at its base. does it only roll over a few times and stop or does it roll over easy and fast? useing starting fluid is hard on the engine aswell so u should just use a little gas and try it. but i would start by replaceing the fuel pump and then go from there!
