Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 1977 Mercedes-Benz 300D with a good interior and engine but bad exterior (rust) should i try to fix it? and there is to what i know is a heater servo on the left side of the engine bay as u open the hood, and it leaks antifreeze like crazy, i tryed taking this heater sevo apart to put in a make shift gasket but the screws holding it together are striped so should i save up and take it in to get it fixed or fix it on my own, or idk, what would u do?

u should definetly have it fixed and then sell it. its classic, whatever u spend on it to fix it, u will make ur money back and extra on it. I would say fix it and post it on eBay. Their are lots of people looking for this kind of carsss.

I wouldnt take it in to get fixed got to a hardware store and get a special drill bit that drill into the screw and then you place another bit in it to take out the old screw. depending on how rusty your car is it might be a good idea just to fix it up so it looks good not to a perfect state cause sith something like a mercedes it would cost a lot to buy new exterior parts.

u should definately take it in to have it fix, but i think u keep it, though, if u can fix the fust yourself and u have the tools, u should that yourself, and since it needs paint i would get it proffesionaly painted, i would keep the car

Shoot- The 1977-late 1980 cars were made with Russian steel- there was a miner's strike in Germany at the time. So those were the years that these cars rusted the worst- I have a '79 that is a basket case. Great engine, low miles (177,000) but the body is disintegrating daily. I'm looking for a newer 4 cyl (240D) manual trans to put my 5 cylinder engine in.
