Rough idleing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My civic idles fairly roughly.. i don't know if it's the carby sucking in air or not, but it just has little jolts occasionally, also backfires when i let off the gas. Any ideas?

try adjusting the throttle first...its the spring located on top of the intake manifold...if it still persists, try changing your engine oil(by the way,how many miles does your engine have acquired?it might need a change oil?or gear oil perhaps...) or it might just be the engine oil...check your pistons too...if its not revving efficiently, there might be broken pieces of the bearings due to friction...and the backfire?check your exhaust system and the headers...there might be residues or holes...

Thanks heaps for the replies guys.. as for the miles.. well, it's in australia so i only know it's km's.. It's done 132,000km. It's not an urgent problem, so i'll take it to the carby dudes some time... Also, i have checked the idle/ throttle spring, but i can't seem to find it.. i have adjusted the cable so it idles well however. Also, the engine oil is alright.. (does burn a little on start up) i do put new stuff in every now and again, or did you mean completely drain it and put fresh stuff in?
