will the 3.8 from a 1998 camaro fit into a 2001 firebird with a 3.8

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2001 firebird that's over heated and locked up . I can purchase a 98 Camaro that has been rear ended with a 3.8 in it . my question is will the 98 Camaro 3.8 work in the 01 firebird with out changing wiring harness or doing any modifacations ?

Without physically looking at the two engines side-by-side, I would say they would bolt in without an issue, BUT YOU need to look at the '98 Camaro and see if the engine runs good (it could have been damaged in the accident as well). All you really need is the engine block as everything else you have is still working. Maybe you could get a way cheaper if you just looked for a "new" rebuilt block for your '01 Firebird. did you look up engine rebuilders in your area ?
