2days ago it started chugging like water would be
in tank. The tank was on ( E) I put high test gas in
and gas treatment no change. I drove around the
parking lot chugging and backfiring. Then truck
starts looseing gas power . I left it sit there in
parking lot . next day I tried to start it . truck starts
2sec. Then nothing . I changed fuel pump . no
change . I changed fuel filter no change. Each time
I did something I tried to start truck again 2sec .

2 seconds sounds like the security system somehow went into full active mode. But I didn’t think an 86 had one unless some aftermarket unit was installed. Did you check the relays?

Found the relay next to fuse box but how do you know if that's working

Got it Engine stalls. One of the first symptoms of an issue with the fuel pump relay is an engine that suddenly stalls. ... Engine does not start. Another symptom of a faulty fuel pump relay is an engine that does not start. ... No noise from the fuel pump. I wondered why I stopped hearing my fuel pump buzzing. Lol

I hope it's the round one. It was in the fuel relay spot I seen some online that are square.

Question what if my injector relay is so hot is it bad or just not working . And fuel pump relay is not hot.

Fuel injection relay will run warm but not hot, if it is hot then you could have a short in the injector wiring or injectors that have too much resistance. Same with the fuel pump relay, warm but not hot, if it is hot then again wiring issues, or a bad fuel pump. As I'm not sure of the build date of your rig about the relays but Toyota did use round relays some years back. Sorry about taking so long getting back, I had shoulder surgery 1 week before this Covid 19 thing hit, so we have been doubly careful and I just couldn't type.

Thank for getting back. Sorry to hear about your surgery. Your right the relay is round and it does get very hot. The fuel relay does not get hot. . I wouldn't know we're to even look for a short in a wire to the injector. . but the fuel pump is only month or 2 old.

Try unplugging the injectors turn the key on and feel the injection relay after a few minutes, if it starts to feel hot again then for sure you have a wiring issue, if it doesn’t feel hot then you have a shorted injector or injectors. Those you can use an ohm meter to find what ones are shorted. The fuel pump relay won’t get warm if the engine is not running.

Ok will do ty I'll keep you posted thank you hope you feel better and virus safe

You were right my # 1 spark plug wire. The shortest one . it was bad . everytime I'd hit a bump in the road it must have moved it a little causeing the truck to hit and miss.

Wow what a huge difference driving now. Way better

Ok question my 86 - 4runner vibrates when I give it gas to go at a speed about 40 and keeps vibrating if I put clutch in and go to 4th or third. It will stop but sometimes if ongoing about 45 I'll hit the gas pedal for a sec. And the vibr8 stops till I give it gas again . any ideas.

Check the carrier bearing for any movement, if you get some replace the assembly. Ujoints can also cause intermittent vibrations.

Would it do that even coasting then if put in in gear it will stop but as soon as I push the gas pedal it goes right to vibrate . . . it would vibrate even 25 mph coming to a stop I shift to 3rd. And it stops but if. I tape the gas pedal it starts again

The only other thing I can think of is an internal transmission/transfer case problem developing, maybe an output shaft bearing or the cluster shaft wear.
