2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas Automatic Transmission

My car surges (approx 100-200 rpm) as I drive it.  My mechanic told me that the
transmission was over filled.  I thought the transmission is a sealed unit.
He tells me that the transmission pan needs to be dropped, the connector
sleeve and gasket replaced, and add new fluid for $1,252......

I have the same problem, 83,000 miles. Told me it was a sealed unit and I'm looking at 8K plus installation. My friend had the same issue and it was a faulty MASS AIR flow sensor. Get that checked first. It cost him 345 for part at jar and an hour to install. He says it made a difference but didn't sole the problem totally.
