Remote alarm beeps as if it's got a sore throat

When I press my remote to lock/unlock my car, it beeps as if its got a sore
throat.  I own a Hyundai i20.  Is there a way to fix the issue or do I need to
replace my beeper?

Thanks Mark! My car is 7 years old and battery has been replaced once in between. I believe, I replaced it 3 years back. I did show it to a mechanic. He said we would need to replace the buzzer. I thought its the sound of the honk that we hear when we unlock or lock the car. Can you confirm if they are different?
