On the side of the seat up near the headrest is a handle that looks like a loop the seat belt should be going through. Push the handle firmly towards the headrest (this requires some force in my VW). The back of front seat will tilt forward and the seat itself will slide forward. Plenty of room. When the passenger has entered push the back of the front seat backward and it will return to its previous setting.
