Why won't my engine go over 2500RPM, except in park?And why is it overheating?

Water pump is leaking, inspected yesterday to see how bad it was, then after letting car cool, opened radiator cap to check coolant levels, and some air was let in or out, and after that the engine started to raise in temperature. I don't know if replacing the water pump will fix that or if it is another problem

Well it could be 3 possible things. #1 is that your head gasket could be gone. #2 is that your thermostat may be stuck and not opening to allow coolant to cycle. #3 is that water pump is not cycling fluid.The pressure in the radiator is normal becauce its a closed loop system. Usually pressure builds up to 15psi.

I had the same problem on a '97 blazer. My catalytic convertor was stopped up... sounds like that may be your problem as well.

you could of gotten air into the system. try replacing the thermostat and draining and refilling the coolant with the motor running cold. this should help ensure no air gets in
