why and how often dothe bearings go out in the rear end? i heard it was quite frequently on the newer ones! IS THERE A CURE FOR THIS?

why do the rear end bearings go out so frequently?  (which is quite expensive to have repaired)  What can be done about this?

I know that the 2002's have had some axle problems which could probably lead to bearing issues, especially in the rear.
