97 blazer wont crank

have a 97 blazer, been sitting for aound a year. it wont crank. i take off
breather and use starter fluid to crank it , it will crank till it burns it off. but if
u keep spraying it in there while its cranked it will eventualy start getting
gas and idle, and run great, till about 2 hours later ..then you have to
repeat it again. is it the fuel pump? is the fuel lines loseing pressure? i dont
wanna drop the tank and replace pump unless i have to. i did it once like 4
years ago and that tank was harder than other vehicles ive done, to take
out...whats your theories? thanks

If it is firing up with the starting fluid, then need to check if the fuel pump is coming on, and if so then need to check that fuel pressure. It needs to be 56 to 63 lbs. If it is at 56 lbs or below it is hard starting. This wouldn't happen to be the 4.3? is it? They have injector, spider line, & fuel regulator issues that can only be resolved by replacing everything as a unit. It is all redesigned.

it is a 4.3 i dont have a way to check pressure atm. but arnt injectors expensive? and like i ssaid it runs great and is driveable once it stays running

Yes it is expensive just for the parts. But thats the way it goes, just keep your fingers crossed that you don't get stranded somewhere and have to pay for a tow truck because you could have had the fuel issue corrected for that. So up to you.
