97 Fiesta, 1.3 endura e engine.Voltage reading from Alternator showing 19 volts.  But only 6 volts at the battery.

Any ideas?

Ok here's what the answer was. Between the alternator and the starter motor there is a live cable, which then runs to the battery. When the starter motor was changed the cable got a break in it. Changed the cable and now the car is fine, alternator was obviously put into it's highest output due to the low battery.

The Endura E engine Battery although its a 12 Volt battery, the battery is actually 12.6 Volts. The Charging voltage from the Altinater should be about 13.5 volts. When cranking to start the engine , the maximum voltage drop at the battery should be 9.6 volts. If you are getting 19 volts on charging there is possibly an Altinater problem. Most likely the regualter.
