1989 deVille cranks but doesn't start intermittently; read something about a poor factory grounding issue. Was so bad GM issued a retrofit fix kit w/L bar. Anyone know the particulars?

Having a known mechanic shop examining 1989 Coupe deVille that has prob consistently starting.  Has 54K orig
miles.  When it deigns to start runs great, but often just cranks w/o turning over.  Read that '89 year for Sedan &
Coupe deVilles had poorly designed factory ground - so bad GM issued retrofit kit to fix.  Car also has after-market
security system.

I'd start by disabling the aftermarket security system. Cranking and turning over is the same thing, If the starter is turning the motor, but it won't START, then you need to check for no fuel or spark.

and it still wont start it just turn over and over
