Does anyone know anything about back up lights malfunctioning on a 1993 Deville

Asked by otterdave Nov 02, 2015 at 10:30 PM about the 1993 Cadillac DeVille Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The reverse lights come on and go off when going from park to reverse and do the same when going from reverse to park, if you put it more into park than reverse they come on and stay on. I had the neutral safety switch replaced back in the summer of 2015, I had heard it might be this or could be a cable leading to the transmission.

Thanks.
Dave

Hello, I sure thank you very much for your help, can you tell me, is the back up light switch and the safety neutral switch the same thing? Thank you. Dave

No, those are two different functions. The location of the switch will depend on the type of shifter you have. Console or column shift.
