08 Cadillac DTS, with Small oil leak.

I have a Common oil leak in my 08 Cadillac DTS...(8 cyl. Northstar engine).  
Very expensive to repair!!  
  I was told that using a thicker synthetic oil, with a stop oil leak product          
(Lucas?)  would slow, or repair the leak!  
Do you think this might be true, and what else can you suggest?

This might work or might not. What is the actual leak source?

The magic in a bottle seldom performs miracles. Get the leak fixed, get rid of the car or live with it.
