Why doesn't my key lock or unlock the door?

I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer and the key doesn't lock or unlock the door.  
The key fob works - just not the key.  What's going on?

lube the tumblers of the key path. try again.

There's a rod inside the door that goes from the lock to the latch. The rod is held in place by plastic clips. Sometimes the clips break and the rod falls off inside the door. Sounds like that's what's happened. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks Jim! I'm sure that's what happened. It moves freely when I turn the key. I'll call my mechanic.
