Used engine swaps will cost you 2 grand or more unless you can do all the work. A new or rebuilt engine can cost 4 grand or higher plus installation.

A clean MS6 roller should sell between $1500-2000 thus allowing $2000-$3000 for engine budget on a used install. This will allow you to be within $5k range and be a little better than most MS6 as you should by then have installed a lower mileage engine that would provide longer life. Not sure if you know but you can get an engine out of a Mazdaspeed 3, all the way up to 2013 year for a direct replacement. Good luck and keep those Mazdaspeed 6 alive!
