I am looking to buy a 1989 VW Cabriolet convertible are they known for anything to go wrong minor or major

I have owned an '87 Cabriolet since new (that's 27 years). And an '88 for seven years. Only big issue is if rust forms around the windshield. This can lead to moisture (rain, snow) ingress above the fuse box. Great cars to own and drive!
