I have a 68 volkswagon beetle manual transmission. It is stuck in second gear

remove back seat, remove access panel, and disconnect the shift rod from the coupler. now take a pair of pliers and try and move the hockey stick (the thing the shift coupler bolts onto). if you can move it you should be able to get it into or out of gear. if you can't move it, then the transaxle will have to be removed, take the nose cone off, and fix the hockey stick.
