what is the location of fuel pump on a 1997 mercedes SL500

sorry, it is not in the gaz tank, passenger side rear wheel well under a plastic cover, it is Bosch about ~$175

Agreed. It is not in the gas tank. It is located under the back of the car just in front of the passenger side wheel. You will have to remove cover if replacing, but you will also see it as well as the fuel filter before removing cover.
