Can i use older models parts on a 1990 vw cabriolet??

But what im trying to find if i can use the fenders,hood and some other parts from 1987,1988... in a 1990 if they would fit right??

make sketches on a notepad, take photos with your digital camera...make notes and go to the pickNpull and measure to make sure they are the same and buy replacements from your self-serve auto recycler~
