1998 Volkswagen Jetta transmission

Garza automatic and we are trying to replace the
automatic or the shift solenoid sensor and where
all the way to it and we can't get it off the ribbon so
how do you detach it from the ribbon without
ruining the ribbon? There's like 5 of them down
there or not sure which one to supposed to be

Please help, and by the way, we are stuck on the side of the highway in a tiny Town with nothing open
