What is the towing capacity for a 4WD 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 extended cab short bed pickup?

If you look at the drivers door jam you will see a rating plate that indicates the GVWR you need to remember that the GVWR is truck and trailer together. My 2002 2500hd 4door 4wd with towing pacakage short bed wieghs about 6600# and has a GVWR of 23,000 if I remember correctly. That and a rating of about 600 lbs tougue wieght that cant be exceeded either. It should also be in the owners manual!
