...found this when my head said "a stickin' cable', but alas, there is NO cable but a movement transducer....very susceptible to dirt gettin' in there and failin'~ this has to be the solution my friend~

Your "Fly-by-wire" throttle system has a redundant circuit that will cause the "Check Engine" light to come on and reduce available power. I've never heard of a "runaway" V- 10. The anti-lock system should have kicked in if you were skidding. A sticking caliper will cause overheated brakes but only on one wheel - and it pulls when applied. A mis- adjusted master cylinder rod will keep the brakes applied but you will loose the brake pedal quickly after the adjustment and it stays that way. Are you driving an empty truck with over inflated tires? Usually its 65psi front and 55psi rear for a dually - even though the sidewalls say 80psi max.

Actually, the computer will know! It reads 2 potentiometers inversely at the pedal and the throttle plate actuator! If there is a difference, it can be read, measured, recorded and trip the Malfunction Indicator Lamp. I'm ASE and Ford Master certified for a reason.

we will see who the car guru is when HOME1125 buys the new "accelerator sensor" and is optical...NOT a potentiometer~ tell ya, some people's kids anymore~

my first thought the throttle position sensor would be cheaper...and COULD be the cause too~ perhaps cheaper to change out first~https://www.google.com/#q=FORD+F350+V10+throttle+position+senso r

Red dot? What's that? AND who cares? Obviously this forum is run by someone more interested in selling advertising than upholding its integrity. Any old fool can get on here and make several accounts to bolster his numbers. SOME of us are productive, useful members of society - some are not.
