my 96 dodge ram wont move in 2wheel drive but does move in 4 wheel drive with no front drive shaft

going down the road and just stopped moving and when u put it in 4 wheel it will move u put in 2 wheel and it just grinds and there is no front drive shaft in it

Sounds like a bent linkage rod. Severely bent linkage rod! (Shortened rod would set case in neutral, then in 2wd when pulled back to 4wd position. Only one way to find out. Get out and get under.

my boss was just talking to a customer about this same thing the other day i build driveshafts and aparently some of the dodge trucks wont move without the front driveline attatcked i dont know why driveshaftsuperstore.com
