I have a 97 dodge 3500 truck and the auto transmission has an issue going into 3rd gear, but if I lift off the gas pedal it will change gears, is there a fix for it or is it time to replace the transmission.

Throttle position sensor? Do you have any codes?

Your vehicle is equipped with a manifold absolute air pressure sensor. This sensor measures the vacuum range of the intake manifold. It works in conjunction with the throttle position sensor to determine when the transmission shifts. I would check this sensor and make sure its properly mounted and check the connections. Same with the throttle position sensor. But no codes.. beyond that I'm not sure. I would say it's not a bad tranny although it could be a something hanging up in the valve body of the tranny.
