i changed my torque converter now it wont go into gear

if its easy to move the shifter then it could be the linkage on the transmission the connects the shifter and the gear shift in the transmission itself i just did the transmission on my friends 1996 ram 1500 and it was a simple cotter pin that had broken after re installation also check to make sure you put the right amount of transmission fluid in otherwise it will not engage torque converters take a lot of transmission fluid
