Why's my AC not working? 2007 Toyota Prius

Asked by vsolley1 Jun 02, 2017 at 11:56 AM about the 2007 Toyota Prius

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The A/C on this 2007 Prius wasn't working when I bought the car from a
previous owner. He said it would need freon but that was not the problem in
the end. I replaced both the compressor and the condensor. The A/C worked
temporarily, for almost the past 2 months, and now it's gone out again. Any
thoughts??

Could possibly be low on Freon again. Very easy to pinch an O ring when installing new parts. I would check Freon level with an actual a/c machine. Pulled down and recharge system and add some dye to the system. If Freon level is ok. Check your pressure switches and also ambient air temp sensor that's suppose to be attached to evaporator

with almost 190,000 miles on my 2008, The air conditioning is blowing warm air. I found numerous tips on line, but mine turned out to be an unusual problem: Both radiator fans are worn out, and open circuit until a hit them with a screwdriver and jarred the evidently worn out brushes to make contact. Now it blows cold, but have ordered a new fan assy ( it includes both fans and the housing.
